How have senior Japanese psychology specialists thought, innovated, and grown? Qualitative analysis using modified grounded theory
The purpose of this study is to clarify how Japanese senior psychologists have thought,
innovated, and grown . Data from interviews with 16 licensed psychologists and clinical
psychologists (with 18 to 54 years of experience ) was collected using semi-structured
interviews and other methods , and analyzed using a modified grounded theory approach.
The results showed that senior psychologists were prepared for the fact that there
were no easy cases, and were innovating to gain experience and learn with the goal of
‘ ‘overcoming problems together with clients ” and “ providing better support ” despite
the “invisible rewards.’ ‘ Senior psychologists were actively involved in “many cases,”
“mentally innovating to continue” their work, and “constantly pursuing what they wanted
to achieve for the rest of their lives
