This study aimed to examine the relationship between burnout and perceived
organizational support among teachers in Goa, and to determine whether stronger
organizational support is associated with lower burnout levels. The sample included
teachers from pre-primary, primary, high school, and higher secondary institutions across
Goa. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires, including the Maslach
Burnout Inventory – Educators Survey (MBI-ES) to measure emotional exhaustion,
depersonalization, and personal accomplishment, and the 8-item Perceived
Organizational Support Scale to assess teachers’ perceptions of institutional care and
recognition. Statistical analyses were conducted to explore correlations between
organizational support and burnout dimensions. The study is expected to contribute
meaningful insights into educational psychology by highlighting the protective role of
supportive school environments in fostering teacher well-being. By emphasizing the
psychological needs of educators and the impact of institutional support, this research
seeks to inform educational policy, strengthen teacher support systems, and promote
healthier, more sustainable teaching environments in Goa.
