A co-relational design was employed for the study with purposive sampling method. The sample size of the study is 400 High School Students from Kohima City, Nagaland. The NEO Five-Factor Inventory – 3 (Costa and McCrae, 1992) was used for the collection of data on personality, while data on academic results and background information were collected by developing a form by the researcher. The findings from this study showed that trait Neuroticism, Openness and Conscientiousness were found to have positive significant relationship with academic performance. Having an insight into the type of personality that students possess could greatly assist teachers and concerned authorities in assisting students to perform better in their academics. Realising those individual innate characteristics that predict and influence academic performance would also encourage teachers to pay close attention to their students which would subsequently promote a better student teacher relationship and enhance their academic performance
