SSE-Tpack Model - Framework For 21st Century Teachers
A competent teacher should possess not only content knowledge (subject matter) but
also pedagogical, technical, and other essential skills in order to co-op up in the fastgrowing
world. Recognition of teachers’ knowledge is crucial as it influences their
teaching strategies and ultimately improves educational outcomes. Many models have
been proposed by different scholars: the PCK model by Schulman (1986), and the
TPACK model by Kohler and Mishra, (2006). This research acknowledges the above
models and proposes a new model known as the SSE-TPACK Model (Sameem &
Hakmal (2023) which additionally includes soft and socio-emotional skills with the
existing TPACK model and highlights the essential skills for 21st-century teachers. As
competent teachers, they are required to acquire knowledge of Soft Skills and Socio
Emotional Skills (SSE) along with TPACK to direct students toward better learning
progress and nurture teacher’s professionalism. The integration of soft and socioemotional
skills with the TPACK model presents a comprehensive and holistic approach
to modern teaching as it helps teachers identify students’ mental and physical issues
which leads to building a good rapport to attain better learning outcomes. The term
socio-emotional and social-emotional used interchangeably
